Bus Service Cancelled - Tuesday January 14, 2020

January 13 , 2020 - The extreme cold warning remains in effect for the region and the coldest temperatures are expected to be in and around the -40 range including a potential -48 with the wind chill Tuesday morning. As a result, bus service has been cancelled for a second straight day for Tuesday January 14, 2020 for all buses in the Parkland School Division Regional Transportation system.

The decision to suspend bus service does not come lightly and even though there is an expectation that no new concepts will be introduced in classrooms, teachers will have appropriate programming ready to engage students for those families that can drop off their children at school. Remember that, except in very special circumstances, Parkland School Division schools always remain open on school days. The final decision to send a child to school rests with parents and guardians.

Please follow your school's regular system for reporting an absence should you choose to keep your children at home. This is an important step to ensure that schools have an accurate record of who is in their care for the day.

Diploma Exams Remain Scheduled

Please note that Grade 12 provincial Diploma exams will be administered as scheduled and Grade 12 students will be responsible for their own transportation to school.

Parents and guardians should ensure that students are dressed appropriately while traveling to and from school during inclement weather conditions. The temperatures can drop dramatically in the event of mechanical issues.

For the most up-to-date information, please visit our Bus Status page at www.psd70.ab.ca. You'll find the quick link featured prominently on the right hand side of our homepage.

As always, the final decision to have their child board a bus rests with parents.

We apologize for any inconvenience. At Parkland School Division, we are a caring and compassionate organization, guided by what’s in the best interest of our students, and their safety is our top priority.
